Amhert Deputy Town Supervisor Guy Marlette
Supporting the Amherst we expect, the Amherst we deserve.
I've always believed Amherst is about expecting more. Families move here and stay here because of the excellent services, the safe community and our quality schools. Residents expect more and are willing to pay for it, but they also want to know that each and every dollar is being spent wisely and that there is real accountability.
That philosophy was central to the development and opening of the new Amherst Youth Foundation’s Independent Health Youth and Family Center. Even the youth operated coffee house is based upon sound business practices, keeping an eye on the bottom line; while offering the customer a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. As President of the Amherst Youth Foundation, I was proud to be part of the effort to improve the quality of life in Amherst without a corresponding increase in taxpayers bills. Thanks to creative reuse of property and hard work forming public-private partnerships, the youth center exists today, and benefits countless members of the community.
This is the type of work that will continue to improve the town of Amherst and make it a place where people want to live, work and raise a family. I'm honored to be part of this effort and look forward to continuing this important work in the future.
